NAHEP CAAST DFSRDA VNMKV Parbhani, has brought the Indigenously developed Precision Cotton Picking Robot. The machine developed in collaboration with M/s Green Robot Machinery Pvt. Ltd, Kundanhalli Banglore. The machine is working on the principal of vacuum suction for picking the cotton from balls. The machine has two robotic arms integrated with Artificial Intelligence programming for detection of cotton balls with the help of ZED camera. The arms are able to move in upward and downward direction. The both robotic arms are mounted on the self steering vehicle operated on 48 V battery power and capable to enter in and run in between the cotton plant rows. There is a facility for storage of about 25 kg cotton in each bin. The machine suppose to be equipped with spraying facility and scouting with the help of cameras. The machine have wired/wireless joystick controls for ease in the operation. This will help to cotton farmers effectively for collection of cotton in future. It may be developed and improved for better efficiency and cost cutting for commercialization.
